About Me

Empowering individuals through meaningful engagement, purposeful activity, and compassionate support

A person centred, strength based approach to empower and engage individuals and caregivers in their home and community

Meet Claire

I’m Claire, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), a nationally recognized professional credential that demonstrates specialized education, clinical training, and commitment to the standards and ethics of the therapeutic recreation profession. I hold a Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Lethbridge. I also have a Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in visual arts from the University of Western Ontario. I am committed to continuous learning and ongoing professional development to ensure I provide evidence-based, compassionate, and creative engagement.

I maintain professional affiliations with the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA) and the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (CTRA). My additional certifications and training include Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA®) in Dementia Care, Mental Health First Aid, Chair Chi, Laughter Yoga Leadership, and Kids Yoga. These additional areas of learning allow me to create adaptable, meaningful, and personalized therapeutic experiences that meet the diverse needs of each client.

My experience includes supporting older adults, individuals with brain injuries, and people living with cognitive and physical challenges in both community and residential settings. Through assessment, individualized recreation planning, and person-centred therapeutic recreation, I help clients build on their strengths, reconnect with meaningful activities, and enhance their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

I founded my practice to provide personalized recreation therapy services in the home and community, helping people remain active, connected, and engaged in the activities that bring purpose and joy to their lives. I am equally passionate about supporting family caregivers by providing trusted, compassionate care that gives them confidence and peace of mind, knowing their loved one is supported by someone they can rely on while they take time to rest, recharge, or attend to their own needs.

Why work with me

Every person is unique, and recreation therapy should be too. I take the time to understand each client’s interests, strengths, abilities, routines, and goals to create meaningful experiences that support their overall well-being.

Sessions are personalized based on the needs and interests of the individual, with collaboration from caregivers when appropriate. Activities are thoughtfully chosen and may include gentle exercise, walks, cognitive activities, creative projects, games, social connection, or opportunities to reconnect with favourite hobbies.

With my background in therapeutic recreation, dementia care, brain injury support, and community programming, I bring experience in creating engaging and adaptable approaches that encourage motivation, build confidence, and reduce barriers to participation.
